Meeting. Falling in love. Creating something special.

Nina and Danny met while earning their art degrees in New York City. She walked into the Manhattan bar where Danny was DJing indie-pop tunes and they've been pretty much inseparable ever since.

After moving to Denver in 2007, they began earnestly collaborating on photo projects. Two years later they quit their jobs to follow their hearts and From the Hip was born, its name a nod to the style of their shots: candid, spontaneous, fresh, playful, fun.

Since then, the From the Hip full-time photo family has grown to include Ashleigh, a plucky, creatively gifted photographer with a decade of experience behind the lens, and Corianne, a painter & artist collective founder who brings care to all of our collaborations.

We capture genuine moments with artistry & creativity while providing service that is honest & unforgettable!

From the Hip Photo has been fortunate to grow up in a supportive, positive community. That's part of why volunteerism and corporate social responsibility are an important component of our identity.

See the World Better is From the Hip's non-profit and cultural exchange partnership. Its goal is to collaborate with select partner organizations in the Denver area to leverage our photographic expertise and help those groups thrive.

We are proud to donate services equivalent to 20% of our total annual sales to groups doing important work within Colorado and began 2017 by providing more than an hour of pro-bono photography coverage every day of January to a worthwhile cause.

Our pro-bono work on this front has found us forging multi-year partnerships with non-profits including Brent's Place, The Wayfaring Band, and The Anchor Center for Blind Children. We've joined up with survivors of the Aurora movie theater tragedy, assisted at countless special events and fundraisers, and supported a fertile creative landscape as partners with the Museum of Contemporary Art, the Colorado Photographic Arts Center, Denver Zine Library, The Denver Center for Performing Arts, as well as The Denver Art Museum's CultureHaus group.

Other groups with whom we have partnered include Youth on Record, the ACLU, Operation Hope, Denver Public Schools and Aurora Public Schools, The Dumb Friends League, This Is My Brave, Love Hope Strength, Children's Hospital Colorado, Art&, Libations for Literacy, Warm Cookies of the Revolution, Denver Month of Photography, monthly events including The Narrators and Nerd Nite, and festivals like The High Plains Comedy Festival.
