Los Chingones | An Inventive Twist on Mexican Food

From the Hip Photo

If you haven't already noticed: we love food. We love cooking it. We love photographing it. And you best your sweet behind that we love eating it. Luckily for us, we've had the opportunity to capture an obscene amount of food photography for Troy Guard, a culinary expert and hero in the Denver restaurant scene. With his multi-cultural cooking style, it's a no-brainer that he's provided Colorado an abundance of delicious restaurants. One of our personal favorites (and it should be one of yours, too) is Los Chingones. With two locations, one in RiNo and one in the Denver Tech Center, Los Chingones offers an inventive twist on Mexican food by placing a special emphasis on seafood. Troy Guard will be

Vibrant RiNo Family Photos | The O’Donnell Family

From the Hip Photo1 comment

The RiNo Art District of Denver is a favorite here at From The Hip Photo. We love it for its abundance of bright colors. The graffiti walls are always changing, which makes your time there so unique. Given that we're obsessed with this district in Denver, we were so elated to take RiNo family photos for the O'Donnell family! Being the absolute end of August, autumn was just starting to creep up, so the weather was perfect! Who are we kidding, the weather in Colorado is nearly always perfect! Considering this is an art district in Denver, it's streaked in color and abstract designs. However, the trendy murals were no match for the O'Donnell family, especially their little girl. She was very fashionable

Alana & Erick | An Elegant Beaver Creek Wedding

From the Hip Photo

If you thought there was nothing more precious than Alana and Erick's engagement pictures along Clear Creek in Golden, Colorado...think again. We had the privilege of photographing their December Beaver Creek wedding day in the middle of the stunning snowcapped Rocky Mountains! The duo looked extremely elegant and their venue only complimented their aesthetic! The holiday season is fun for many reasons, but spending the day in a rustic, festively decorated, wooden lodge surrounded by loved ones (and with a few feet of snow outside) while celebrating your wedding is something truly special. Not only was their SaddleRidge wedding venue in Beaver Creek beautiful, but Alana and Erick also embraced the DIY spirit by picking out candles, gorgeous flowers, perfect table toppers, plate settings,

Month of Photography | Colorado Photographic Arts Center

From the Hip Photo

March is pretty sweet for two big reasons: it's the start of spring and, every other year, it marks Month of Photography here in Denver. And while we do enjoy Colorado's rather extreme spring weather, you can probably guess that we're a little more excited about the latter. As a photography company that places great emphasis on community involvement, the gang here at From the Hip Photo is pretty darned proud to have partnered with the  Colorado Photographic Arts Center. It's the only nonprofit in Denver, Colorado that is dedicated exclusively to photography in all its myriad, wondrous forms! They offer a plethora of workshops and portfolio reviews, offer equipment rentals to further one's photography education, and curate some pretty spectacular

Jaclyn & Jacob | A Sapphire Point Engagement

From the Hip Photo

What do you get when you take a sassy southern woman and a shy but adorable man? Jaclyn and Jacob! Now, add in our photographers, a short walk to a breathtaking Rocky Mountain overlook, and you get... this stunning Sapphire Point engagement photo session! The hike itself is a 0.6-mile loop located just outside Frisco, Colorado, and don't worry--although the walk is a relatively short one, there are plenty of places to stop and take in the scenery, making it a perfect location for photos. If there's one thing we know for certain about Colorado, it's that the weather here has a mind of its own, so it isn't all that unusual to wear a t-shirt in the middle of winter.

The McNeal Family | Outdoor Newborn Photos

From the Hip Photo

The McNeal family of two recently grew to a family of three, and we were lucky enough to capture one of the first weeks in their charming home with newborn baby Isla! Amy and Ryan are such sweet new parents, not to mention the fact that their infant daughter is absolutely adorable. These outdoor newborn photos are stinkin' precious! We typically capture newborn photo sessions such as this one in the family's home, as it's a place where both parents and baby will feel most at ease after the delivery. Also, it's a fantastic way to incorporate the baby's (and sometimes the couple's) first home into these precious keepsake pictures. Mornings tend to work best for newborn sessions because it's the

Victoria & Caleb | A Wedding Party Chalk Fight Celebration

From the Hip Photo1 comment

Our new favorite way to spend time with your wedding party is to throw colorful chalk paint powder at your future spouse and all your friends. Welcome to Victoria and Caleb's wedding party chalk fight festivities two days before their beautiful wedding day! Though, this isn't just any paint. It has a chalky-like substance that is biodegradable, which is important to think about before you go and start throwing things in nature!

The Gorgeous Chandelier Barn at Lionsgate Event Center

From the Hip Photo

The Chandelier Barn at Lionsgate Event Center officially opened on December 1st, 2016. So, as of December 1st, we've been trying to pick our jaws up off the floor. Nearly 30 chandeliers hang suspended inside the space, and every last one was hand-crafted by the Lionsgate's proud owner, Marie. That's an impressive feat and was clearly worth the effort! Originally a dairy farm built in 1910, the Chandelier Barn is quite the unique venue. All the rafters you see at the ceiling of the barn are the original beams from over a century ago! The venue seats up to 110 guests for ceremonies and approximately 30 people for seated receptions and has been used for everything from wedding ceremonies to rehearsal dinners
