Katrina and Seth’s Wedding was so much fun, filled with plenty of clever details and D.I.Y. elements. They are both big fans of comic books, so their friends weren’t surprised to find that their wedding was themed accordingly. Tables were named after various superheroes, her garter and his cufflinks were Green Lantern inpsired… even Katrina herself resembles Poison Ivy in our estimation.
We photographed their engagement session last year and knew right away that they were a fantastic couple to work with. Needless to say, when their wedding day rolled around they certainly did not disappoint!
Below you’ll find a very helpful guide from Katrina outlining how their various elements were executed:
Photography – From the Hip Photo
Florist – McGuckin Hardware Store
The florist did the bouquets and boutonnieres, however you have to tell them exactly what you want since they don’t do much design work or have idea books. A bit more work but I saved a FORTUNE!
Pomander balls – assembled them myself with flowers from McGuckin. The Oasis balls came from save-on-crafts.com (there isn’t anywhere else cheaper for these)
Dress – Dina’s Bridal
Hair pins – I made them from a vintage brooch and earring set that I found on etsy.com
Hair – AnnMarie at Colours Salon in Boulder
Bracelet – Francesca’s Collection in Boulder
Earrings – Macys
Shoes – Nine West
“I Do” shoe stickers (also my something blue)- goodthingsweddingfavors.com
Bridesmaid’s Dresses – Black House White Market
Bridesmaid’s Necklaces (which were their gifts) – hopechestjewelry.com
Tux Rental – Men’s Warehouse
Groom’s Ties (which were their gifts) – wildties.com
Groom’s Green Lantern Cufflinks – thepurplearmadillo.com
Garters – A damask set that I got at Hobby Lobby and replaced the charm with Green Lantern Crocs “Jibbitz” that I cut the backs off of.
Flower girl dresses – my mom made them and I used the same ribbon as I did for the pomander balls for the sash
Flower girl glitter shoes – I made them myself using plain black shoes from target, glitter, rubber cement and a lot of patience
Flower girl headbands – bought St Patrick’s Day headbands at the dollar store and replaced the shamrock bow with a plain green one.
Ring Bearer tie – I found it on ecrater. It was made out of the same fabric (michael miller dandy damask) as my table runners
Rings – wedding rings – Shane Co, engagement ring- Amazon.com
Cake – Indulge Bakery
Cake topper – a paperweight that I bought at Hobby Lobby
Cupcake toppers – I made them made with a paper punch, rubber stamps and toothpicks
Candelabra Centerpieces – Jafgifts.com (insanely cheap and really great to work with!)
Vase Centerpieces – Hobby Lobby. The flowers in these were actually the pomander balls that were hung on the shephard’s hooks during the ceremony. I had a friend take off the ribbon and put them on the tables quickly after the ceremony to help save on flower costs.
Ceremony Arch – borrowed the archway itself from a friend. The garland was from Hobby Lobby
Wedding Invitations – bought the brides.com brand set that you print yourself at Michaels Craft store and printed at home
Placecards – bought the brides.com brand set that you print yourself at Michaels Craft store and printed at home
Programs – bought the brides.com brand set that you print yourself at Michaels Craft store and printed at home
Damask Votives – I made them myself by wrapping a plain votive with damask printed packing tape from tapeswell.com
Table Numbers – Designed using photoshop and had them printed at Kinkos. The frames were a cheap bulk set from target.com
Placecard holder – I made it myself using a foam core board that I upholstered with batting and fabric and used ribbon to hang the cards on. It was held up by a picture frame holder from Hobby Lobby
Little frames at the buffet table – I spray painted frames from the Michaels dollar section that were an extra 70% off
Paper Lanterns – Asianideas.com
Card box – A hat box from hobby lobby that I cut an opening in and stuck some sticky gems on from the michaels dollar section. I am also going to use it as my wedding memory box.
Guest book – A book of our engagement pictures that we made on mypublisher.com
Toasting Glasses – the glasses that my mother in law and father in law used at their wedding for their toast
Ring bearer pillow – the ring pillow used at my parents’ wedding. I replaced the ribbon and used the charm I took off the garters
Canvas kiddy gift bags – I put each kid in the wedding party’s name on a canvas bag with iron on letters and filled it with crayons, a coloring book and bubbles so that they could have something to entertain themselves during the reception.
