The Fourth of July is right around the corner, which means we’ll all soon be running around displaying our patriotism and love of America with sparklers, fireworks, and glow sticks! Why not try to win an awesome prize while you’re at it with our #ShowOffYourLights photo contest?
We were inspired to host this contest because we have been having way to much fun with our LightWriter lately and wanted to see what you can do while playing in the dark! If you aren’t yet acquainted, the LightWriter is our fancy, programmable high-tech light stick that we use to create beautiful light trails and messages like the one above.
Need some inspiration? Learn how to create your own stunning long-exposure photos over on our blog, check out our gallery or head over to Wiki How to get started!
But don’t worry! We appreciate old-school, lo-fi goodness, too! So get your phones and cameras ready and start snapping your best shots of anything that glows or is filled with light! Here are some suggestions to get you going:
- Antique light bulbs at your favorite restaurant
- Fireworks celebrations
- Write your name in glow sticks
- Fun with sparklers
- The sunlight and shadows dancing on your pet through a window
- The twinkling lights at Lakeside Amusement Park and Elitch Gardens
Send us your pics by using the #ShowOffYourLights hashtag on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
Two winners of the #ShowOffYourLights photo contest will be announced Monday, August 1st at 9 a.m., so make sure to have your photos submitted before then! Remember that the winners will win an awesome candle prize package from Pearl Street Lights and be featured on all of our social media pages!
Pearl Street Lights is a new company that creates candles out of reclaimed wine and beer bottles. All candles are non-GMO soy wax, mixed with fantastic fragrances, and signed by the individual who made it. The company is committed to hiring women who were formerly incarcerated or have other barriers to employment to improve their self-sufficiency and help them reclaim their lives.
