We love our studio home at Stanley Marketplace, that’s no secret. We have excellent neighbors. From amazing florists that give our brides the most stunning bouquets, to the scrumptious places we love to grab lunch. Can you blame us for loving our home this much? One of our favorite perks to being here at Stanley is that we’re just a few short steps away from an amazing variety of beer! Lucky for us, we can pour ourselves a beer any time we choose because Stanley Beer Hall is just right down the hall!
Beer-ducation
There’s no shortage of great beer in Colorado. In fact, Denver has more breweries per capita than anywhere else in the country! Living around so many breweries it’s easy to notice that the beer world has its own lingo, and some of it can be a little confusing! But not to worry, we’re here to break it down for you so that you’ll be in the know next time you order a new brew.
Malty: Malt refers to the flavor of malted barley, the main ingredient in beer. The level of kilning, or roasting, of the malt determines the flavor. Depending on the roast, the flavor of the beer may range from a biscuity, cereal, taste to a coffee taste.
Hoppy: Hops is another main ingredient that determines the flavor of your beer. Hops can be fruity and citrusy, piney or floral. Beer drinkers often use hoppy to describe the bitterness of a beer, but there are beers that are hoppy and not bitter.
Light/Medium/Heavy: These terms are used to refer to the flavor of the beer. Light bodied beers tend to be crisp, and often very refreshing. In comparison, heavy bodied beers are much richer, and sometimes feel oily and stick to the mouth.
Our final tip for your beer-ducation is how to pour the perfect glass. All beer drinkers know the pain of ordering a pint only to find that it’s half filled with foam! So, in order to get the perfect pour, you’ll want to start by holding your glass at a 45-degree angle. Pour towards the middle of the glass until your glass is half full, then tilt your glass upright and continue to pour til your glass is full. Finally, enjoy that perfect glass of beer!
