Thanks to Courtney, an expert planner at The Day Of, we were able to participate in a crazy-awesome wedding show at the Grant-Humphreys Mansion in Denver, Colorado. She thoughtfully assembled what she referred to as “the tribe,” a gaggle of unique, vendors from across the Denver metro area. There was even a Grant-Humphreys Mansion wedding as part of the festivities! (Sorta.)
The mansion itself is extremely beautiful and full of charm! Having been built in 1904, there is so much Colorado history behind it. The coolest fact, however, is that the second owners of the mansion, A.E. Humphreys, had two sons that were very taken with airplanes. So taken, that they opened Denver’s first commercial airport, which is now the site of… Stanley Marketplace, which is where… From The Hip Photo has our studio! How cool is that? We liked the beauty of the mansion a lot beforehand but now we can thank the old residents for being catalysts behind the large space which is home to us and so many excellent Colorado businesses!
Before the surprise wedding, all of the attendees got a chance to walk around the grounds of the mansion, peering into rooms and checking out the ceremony and reception spaces. Courtney even set up a scavenger hunt where the guests had to ask each vendor a question. From The Hip Photo’s question was:
What was the most interesting place you’ve taken a photo?
As it turns out, the most interesting place that Danny has taken a photo was in Pamplona, Spain. He took the photos at only 15 years old when he and his brother ran with the bulls (which is cooler than what most of us can say we’ve done at age 15). At the end of the run, everyone winds up in the same bullfighting ring, scrambling over the barriers to find a spot in the stands. Amid all the chaos he snapped some photos of the bulls and people funneling into the arena!
The highlight of the wedding show was most definitely the Grant-Humphreys Mansion wedding! Guests were enthralled by the “bride,” her maid of honor, and her mother as they strutted down the mansion’s stairs…dressed in drag! There was even a hilarious abundance of singing and dancing to songs about weddings.
We’d like to give a big thank you to Courtney from The Day-Of for organizing such a fun Grant-Humphreys Mansion wedding event, plus all out other great vendors! The Grant-Humphreys Mansion for not only being a beautiful venue but for housing people that made our studio space way back in the day, Three Tomatoes Catering for the yummy appetizers, Yours Truly Cupcakes for the scrumptious desserts, Audio Enlightenment DJs for the tunes, Ellie Wren Custom Shoes for the gorgeous heels, and finally, Dave Ballew Bartending and Ratio Beerworks for the refreshments!
