Who doesn’t love a good destination wedding? We love the look of the bride and groom as they celebrate their special day in a foreign place. For Trevor and Alex, what better way to celebrate than on an island—Cancún, more specifically!
Six years prior, the couple met in college. They were introduced by a mutual friend and soon fell head over heels for one another. Sometime after, the two made the big move and bought a house together. Right after signing the official papers, the homeowners went on a hike where Trevor got down on one knee and proposed! The nature-loving couple decided to have the ceremony outside near the shoreline.
Great Use of Location
The wedding was heavily inspired by the location, which featured a Mariachi band and special maracas for the guests. Even humidity and rain couldn’t damper the high spirits and cheerfulness brought on by the music and atmosphere of Mexico. Alex noted, “The rain was a surprise, but added an element of fun that I did not think was possible. Seeing everyone just laughing and taking cover was so fun and it made it more memorable.”
The color scheme was also greatly inspired by the venue, with a gorgeous ivory chosen for the bridesmaids’ dresses–reminiscent of the pristine sands of Cancún. The groomsmen donned a soft blue-grey that wonderfully matched the colors of the sea and sky on the island horizon.
While the ceremony, without a doubt, remained beautiful and bright, the reception was where Trevor and Alex really started to introduce some color. Fluorescent blues and violets lit up the dance floor. Alex mentioned how the energy of the room influenced the guests when she said, “The amount of people who danced the whole night was another special moment. We had about 60 people there. I was surprised to see how many people danced the entire night.”
We hope that Trevor and Alex’s marriage retains the spirit of the night of their wedding, gleeful and care-free in perpetuity!
