Lighting is Key

Autumn’s natural colors are reds, golds, and yellows which have the potential to either overpower or enhance natural lighting.
While outdoors trying to capture that stunning gold light, make sure you either use the sun as an illuminant for the colors or a tool for silhouettes. Try some tossing pictures where leaves are drifting through the shot like rain. Or try some birds eye view shots on a bed of fallen leaves. Or go for the classic fall backdrop that showcases rows of colorful trees!
Layer Your Outfits
Outfits require thought with any photoshoot, but fall provides a great opportunity for layering and versatility! With a little bit of chilly air and a brisk breeze, fall means wearing cozy clothes, long sleeves, long pants, and maybe some boots or jackets. Feel free to experiment with articles of clothing to get the perfect shot! You can try with or without the jacket. You can mix and match shirts with the same boots. Cooler weather is great for a little trial and error with fashion experimentation.
