The Importance of Senior Portraits

April 23, 2018 January 19, 2021 From the Hip Photo3 comments14922 views

The youth of today are more technologically savvy than any generation before them. They’re posting more selfies than ever, and are arguably the most photogenic group of young people to have ever lived! That may be the product of all those selfies giving them extra practice posing in front of a camera, or maybe they’re just naturally photogenic! Whatever the reason, there’s no question that they take good photos, and their Instagram feeds are envious. However, their selfie skills don’t exclude them from needing some high-quality senior portraits when it comes time for them to graduate and go out into the big, wide, world. After all, there are some photo’s you can’t take yourself, even with a quality selfie stick!

What Are Senior Portraits?

Senior portraits have come a long way in the past few years. Some of you may remember taking a trip to the local photography studio to have some professional looking headshots done. Perhaps you wore a nice sweater for one photo, or maybe something with a collar. Regardless of the attire, a senior portrait is the first professional photo many young adults will ever have taken.

The youth of today are utilizing senior portraits in a whole new way. Their photos are a perfect excuse to express their own individual style and memorialize who they are at this point in their lives. Natalia’s amazing senior portraits were taken in Washington Park, and she showed off her style with four different outfits.

Why Are Senior Portraits Such A Big Deal?

Senior year of high school marks a lot of milestones for the average young person. It’s often their last year at home with their parents. Their last year with the friends they’ve grown up with. It’s the year they become a legal adult. Taking senior portraits is the perfect way to commemorate all that they’ve done so far in their life, and a way to celebrate all the things the future has in store.

As an added bonus, senior portraits are good for more than just looking pretty in a nice picture frame. They’re a great way to customize graduation announcements. Creating a customized graduation announcement that uses a photo of the young grad is a great way to show family, friends, and everyone else what an incredible person they’ve grown into.

So, a big congratulations to Natalia and all of the other young grads! We can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you’re going to do!
