The McNeal family of two recently grew to a family of three, and we were lucky enough to capture one of the first weeks in their charming home with newborn baby Isla! Amy and Ryan are such sweet new parents, not to mention the fact that their infant daughter is absolutely adorable. These outdoor newborn photos are stinkin’ precious!
We typically capture newborn photo sessions such as this one in the family’s home, as it’s a place where both parents and baby will feel most at ease after the delivery. Also, it’s a fantastic way to incorporate the baby’s (and sometimes the couple’s) first home into these precious keepsake pictures. Mornings tend to work best for newborn sessions because it’s the time of day when a baby sleeps more deeply, ideally with a full tummy to keep them drowsy and contented.
Amy and Ryan’s baby Isla had no problem snoozing for us! Nor did she have any trouble looking adorable while doing so. We took quite a few close ups of Isla’s petite hands, toes, and napping nose. They’re only ever that small once (and the cliches about this time being fleeting are all too true), which is why we love those kinds of close-up shots during newborn sessions. Pairing Amy and Ryan’s wedding bands with baby Isla’s little feet produced a perfect metaphor for how that special brand of unconditional love only grows deeper and stronger.
We can already tell that Amy and Ryan have a little fashionista on their hands. Isla wore pale yellow bloomers with a matching flower headband. She looked so lovely on her darling little piggy rocker! If you’re ever wondering what to dress your baby in for a newborn photo session, don’t hesitate to check out our Pinterest board that has plenty of outfit inspo or these six tips for a picture-perfect newborn session! The McNeal’s backyard was the perfect backdrop for the rocker, as well as the floral baby beanbag that Isla snuggled up on. The mid-September setting caught the foliage during their final days of being green!
All the bright colors gave these images life, as did baby Isla herself. Her little headbands and bloomers couldn’t out-cute her little fingers and toes! We’re always so grateful for the parents of newborns and their willingness to welcome us into their homes and even in their backyards for outdoor newborn family photos. Thank you to the McNeal family for letting us capture these outdoor newborn photos and providing this glimpse at your beautiful, growing family!
