Not too long ago we went with Katy and Dan to Lost Gulch Overlook to capture their maternity photos against Colorado’s kaleidoscope sunset skies. Then, a few months later we got to take the camera from Katy’s cute bump to this couple’s bundle of joy. We absolutely loved capturing photos of their baby girl at their home. Katy & Dan are clearly thrilled and excited to be parents! Katy & Dan’s newborn daughter looked like an angel surrounded by white bedding and walls decorated with subtle charms. Her bedroom was home to countless mementos of the past and tidbits of her future. For example, her hospital band sat beside an image of her beautiful, pregnant mother at Lost Gulch. Tastes of wood and greenery from succulents brightened the space alongside this girl's already large collection of books. What
This wedding swept us right off our feet, and we’re still recovering! Lauren and Phil’s August wedding at Crooked Willow Farms was something out of a Cinderella story, and we never wanted to wake up from this fairytale! With August right around the corner, we thought we'd share last year's August dream wedding we are still not over! A Rustic Venue Crooked Willow Farms in Larkspur, Colorado will give you the rustic feel and rural location you’re looking for. (Check out the other events we've covered there!). It has a gorgeous outdoor ceremony area with a view of the beloved Rocky Mountains. The indoor space is perfect for a reception where your guests can dance the night away. As expected, Lauren and Phil’s wedding decorations fit right in with this dreamy venue. Hanging lights and mason jars alongside blue tablecloths gave the space a magical vibe for the evening party. “Pretty in pink” and “cute as a button” both have truth to them, and this couple’s newborn daughter, Mia, fit these phrases to a “T.” We felt so lucky to help these two parents photograph their in-home newborn session. The shoot was full of personal touches and comical costumes, and we truly loved every second! Pretty in Pink! In-home newborn sessions are bound to be heartwarming and special. When we say “pretty in pink” we mean this little girl looked oh-so pretty in her pink blanket and floral headband. She rocked other colors like teal and purple as well. Altogether, Mia’s pinks and teals against Mom, Dad, and Grandma’s blues and pinks made the perfect summer color scheme for this photo shoot. If there’s anything cuter than a baby with perfectly pinchable cheeks, it’s one with a fedora and a matching t-shirt with dad! We spent the day with Emily and Nick at their Lookout Mountain family photo session, and boy was this day something we won’t forget! Dad’s fun-loving attitude and Mom’s sweet nose-boops and tummy tickles made this family so enjoyable to work with, and we couldn’t be happier with how these photos turned out! Fedora-ble! This kid is ready to strut down any runway with his dapper hat and a button-down shirt. Not to mention this guy has bright blue eyes and such pinchable cheeks! He is undeniably the most adorable member of the family, and Mom and Dad proudly hugged their little man. While Emily and Nick’s kisses kept this little guy happy, we couldn’t get over dad and son’s t-shirts that referenced the 1993 movie, The Sandlot. With nonchalant pride, the little man’s shirt said “Smalls” while Dad’s read “You’re killing me, Smalls.” Talk about applicable and hilarious! A Location for All Occasions! Elegance in every twirl and tenderness in every kiss, Maureen and Andres’ engagement session at Clear Creek Trail was magic fit for a king and queen. These two looked stunning at this park in Golden, Colorado, and we couldn’t have asked for a better day with them. These lovebirds gleamed with joy at the prospect of their coming marriage, and we were happy to capture the moment! Clear Creek Class The Clear Creek trail is a favorite of ours, and one we return to time and time again. This October photo shoot gave us trees of bright yellow and orange. The creek’s water in the afternoon sun gave this couple regal halos and sparkling backdrops that we couldn’t pass up! And while the trail is full of walking trails and very close to the quaint town of Golden, the park is perfect for a photo shoot for any occasion, too. Check out Rachel and Justin’s maternity session at Clear Creek! Two Royal Sweethearts Maureen's long dress and elegant heels made her the most dazzling dancer in all the land. With Andres’ dapper suit and spunky red socks, this pair looked almost more perfect than the stunning Colorado backdrops we captured.
No photographer wants his or her subjects to look too staged, so casual and natural is always the goal for portraits. Members of the Stalling family were more than casual and natural – they were one of the most entertaining and lovable bunches we’ve ever had! On a glorious day, we captured their family photos at Wash Park, and we had so much fun! Family Fun! Siblings and cousins, parents and grandparents all huddled closely and giggled with every hug and nudge. While we of course captured some traditional photos of each family with poised smiles, we are never ones to pass up a “silly picture” – or multiple! The sisters nudged and embraced each other playfully, and their cousin even joined the goofiness! Mom and Dad were not afraid to join the fun either, and sweet smiles quickly evolved into outright laughter. Even Grandma and Grandpa proudly cuddled their family. Based on Grandma and Grandpa's genuine smiles, it is clear where the Stalling family got its zest for life! Someone put this couple in a Denver magazine! We love photographing breathtaking Colorado outdoors for any occasion. However, every once in a while, it’s nice to have a little taste of the city! We celebrated Traci and Andrew at their downtown Denver wedding at the Brown Palace Hotel, and wow was it incredible! A Denver Dream Laced in gold and with hints of timeless elegance, this wedding was one for the books. Traci and Andrew welcomed family, friends and even their beloved dog to one of Denver’s oldest, most popular event venues. The Brown Palace Hotel proved the perfect spot for everything from bridal party shots to the ceremony. Located in the heart of the city, nearly everything guests might want is within walking distance: restaurants, museums, bars, music, shopping and more! We went back to Lost Gulch Overlook for this couple's maternity session, and it was something extraordinary. Majestic Magic What's the big deal about Lost Gulch Overlook anyway? For one thing, this setting is a familiar one for our From the Hip Photo fam (see our sunrise shoot at this location here)! Moreover, it never fails to take our breath away thanks to stunning views (and maybe a little altitude)? Located on Flagstaff Mountain near Boulder, Colorado, this location is accessible, popular and provides unbeatable landscapes and vistas. While the essence of this session was to capture Katy and Dan as happy, budding parents, this shoot was like something out of a movie or a music video. I mean seriously — Katy looked freaking majestic in her floor-length dress and tastefully braided hair.
