Engagement photos are an exciting way to spread the news of your upcoming wedding while also allowing you to interact with your photographer before your wedding day. More importantly, engagement photos are more than just pictures — they’re memories!
Who doesn't love a snow-covered mountain overlooking the Rockies as their backdrop for engagement photos? Monique and Brian loved it so much they hiked up Lost Gulch in the middle of winter! It was freezing cold but they didn't have a care in the world. Visiting from Atlanta, Georgia, these two made it look like they hiked Lost Gulch every weekend. From ATL to the Mile High City I am sure that Atlanta has plenty to offer, but nothing beats the Rockies mid-winter! With an endless range of peaks and valleys, you can never go wrong. Lost Gulch just so happens to be one of our favorite locations. Lost Gulch Overlook is nestled in Flagstaff Mountain which overlooks the nearby city of Boulder. The Boulder area is filled with fun and eclectic people, places, and things to do! From the awesome shops on Pearl street to the beautiful trails surrounding the city-- you can't go wrong! The only thing that could have made this day better would have been some cozy hot chocolate on the mountaintop! Let's Take a Trip to Colombia (it's warmer there!) It wouldn't be an engagement session without an engagement story! After knowing each other since middle
The weather here in Colorado tends to shift from hot to cold and back again over the course of a single day. If often feels like Colorado's weather doesn't have seasons so much as it does mood swings. At their Sprague Lake engagement shoot earlier this fall, Ashleigh and Tim showed us their secret technique for conquering the confusing Colorado climate: blankets! Love & Order We're willing to bet that most people don't enroll in mock trial class expecting to find love. But that's exactly how Ashleigh and Tim met! As the two teammates grew closer, Ashleigh proposed a trip for the two of them to Iceland. As it turns out, Tim had a proposal of his own in mind. He surprised Ashleigh by popping the question on the last day of their trip. We happen to think an Icelandic proposal sounds pretty romantic, but we'll let the jury decide this one. Sprague Lake So why a Sprague Lake engagement shoot? Well, it's no Iceland, but we happen to think it's pretty cool. Located in Rocky Mountain National Park, Sprague Lake is named after Abner Sprague. Sprague (the guy, not the lake) moved to the area in the late 19th
Although wintertime is still a little ways away, it's already starting to get nice and snowy here in Colorado. In fact, the Rocky Mountain National Park has a bunch of snow already! Luke and Brian sure knew how to keep each other warm for this shoot. In fact, we're not sure how they didn't freeze! Check out these lovely Rocky Mountain National Park engagement photos! Rocky Mountain National Park The Rocky Mountain National Park is one of our favorite places to shoot photos because it's just so damn beautiful! No matter the season, this park never fails to amaze us. Although this was taken only the second week of October, the whole park has turned into a winter wonderland. Encompassing about 415 square miles, the Rocky Mountain National Park spans the Continental Divide and its surrounding ecosystems and mountains. From camping, to fishing, to scenic drives, there really is no shortage of activities! It is also home to over 350 miles of walking and hiking trails. You can even get a tour from a park ranger who can show you there very best spots the park has to offer. Of course, exploring the unknown is also highly recommended! The Key to
It's common knowledge that Colorado is home to some of the most beautiful scenic areas and parks in the country. But what could be more breathtaking when you add two bright and beautiful faces into the mix, and at Evergreen Lake at that? Congratulations to Lisa and Jen on your engagement! Check out some of our other nature-infused and Evergreen shoots here. Evergreen Lake The town of Evergreen is home to a beautiful lake and lake house which both provide an absolutely fantastic environment for a photoshoot. Weather in Colorado can be somewhat unpredictable at times, but on this day, the sun shined as bright as this couple's future! Despite the sunshine, the weather was still cold enough for us to capture some beloved moments on the lake's frozen surface and banks. The perfect embodiment of "Colorado weather," we think! A Romantic Getaway The Evergreen lake house is ever-so romantic. It just might be the perfect place to escape to with a loved one! In fact, our young couple Lisa and Jen were incredibly passionate at our session -- with laughs, smiles, and embraces. It's always a pleasure for us to build strong and lasting relationships between two very affectionate people.
We absolutely love capturing special moments-- whether it be weddings, family, or high school senior photos. However, today we bring you something particularly special-- a precious surprise proposal from our friend Scott to his now fiancé Katie! The proposal took place at Grand Lake and the wonderful autumn aesthetic provided an incredible backdrop for this special moment! We hope you enjoy this surprise autumn engagement at Grand Lake as much as we did! Grand Lake Grand Lake, which is located about thirty miles north-west of Boulder, is known as the "Western Gateway" to the Rocky Mountain National Park -- and for a very good reason! It's absolutely gorgeous, especially around this time of year when the leaves begin to change color. The lake offers all sorts of activities to enjoy all year round. From backcountry skiing and snowmobiling in the winter, to hiking and kayaking in the summer, Grand Lake has a lot to offer! It features over sixty different shops, restaurants, and galleries to explore. Naturally, this makes for a perfect location for a surprise proposal! Friends of the Fox Fam Scott is a friend to us at From the Hip Photo; he is the founder of a highly rated lighting and
Engagement season is almost upon us, and what better way to celebrate than champagne on this cold January day at Clear Creek? It's always a pleasure for us to contribute to building long-lasting relationships -- so here's to you, Danielle & Eli! Clear Creek Clear Creek is a small brook that runs through Golden, CO that offers scenic richness and beauty to the surrounding areas. During the summer, people can come to the creek to fish, kayak, and even inner-tube in the creek's waters. The trail that runs along the creek also offers a great path for runners and bikers alike. Get some more information on Clear Creek here! During the winter months, Clear Creek county (which is a bit farther west from Denver) offers some great holiday events that can help you get into high winter spirits. The winter months in Colorado bring forth a great combination of sunlight and snow. The mountains near Golden provide some great background for our sessions. Check out some of our other shoots that took place in Golden here! Champagne and Cuddles Honestly, what could be better? Well, a dog could never hurt! This couple's +1 was the cutest -- we love having pets in
We were on cloud nine with Jordan and Daniel’s magical engagement photos at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park! We already love this location (as you can see from our previous post here), but this couple’s electric disposition made this session enchanting and totally out-of-this-world. The two are not only clear advocates of color and brilliance, but their affection for each other was quite possibly the most eye-catching of all. An Outdoor Outing Located in Evergreen, Colorado, this park hosted the most incredible pictures for Jordan and Daniel. With acres numbering nearly 770, this park has every vibe to offer. First, we explored the park’s trails and rocky plateaus so Jordan’s bright blue dress and Daniel’s dark-toned outfit would stand out. The park’s earthy greys and greens painted the perfect Colorado picture for this couple’s images! After the trails, we visited the park’s more rustic and western flares such as a wooden barn. Here, the couple melded like yin and yang in their black and white tones against beautiful wood. The wood even made the most ideal ring holder for Jordan's rock. While maintaining the Colorado feel, this country barn provided another rural perspective. Looking both happy and completely in love, the two
We've never seen engagement photos quite this blissfully sweet. Adeline and Josh celebrated their engagement among the the Colorado Rockies and a glistening Lake Dillon, and we have never swooned more. The couple was completely charming, silly and so playful. In every shot they gushed with love and celebrated with passion (and wine!) -- and we were thrilled to be a part of this Lake Dillon engagement! Colorado Roots! Just outside of Frisco, Colorado, this scenic location at the Lake Dillon Marina is not new to From the Hip Photo. Remember Brianna and Ben's engagement last year? We sure do! This nature location is jaw-dropping and eye-catching not just because it of its breathtaking magic. The place also holds a special place in this couple's heart since it displays the quintessential Colorado views they cherish. Josh proposed at the top of Booth Falls, another stunning hike a little too high up for this October photo shoot. Still, the outdoors are always an ideal choice when it comes to capturing those intimate engagement pictures. The great outdoors has incredible lighting and colors fit for any scheme. Natural lighting, our cameras, and their love-able couple chemistry was a recipe for unbeatable
