From the Hip Photo has been a vocal and active ally of the LGBTQIA+ community since our founding. When Colorado legalized civil unions in 2013 and marriage equality in 2014, we were there documenting those historic first ceremonies. That work shaped who we are as a company and deepened our commitment to inclusive photography.

In 2018, when the Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission case went to the Supreme Court, From the Hip was part of the amicus brief supporting same-sex couples’ rights to equal access under the law.

When potentially discriminatory bills have been brought to the state Capitol here in Colorado, From the Hip has testified in front of our representatives to ensure the LGBTQIA+ community would not be further marginalized or disadvantaged. We have even used our platform to have op-eds published in the Denver Post in support of marriage equality and in advocacy of LGBTQIA+ protections.
