Octobers are for bursting colors on trees, hot tea cuddled under a blanket, and your favorite flannel and jean combo. Octobers, though, can also be for family outings for that perfect picture. We went to Meyer Ranch Park for the Grimes family photos among the yellow aspen trees. We loved capturing this family not only because of their amiable personalities and kindness, but also because they brought along two of our favorite things: an adorable little boy and dog! Something New: Meyer Ranch Park! One look at this location and you’re sure to be hooked. Meyer Ranch Park gave us the perfect blanket of fallen leaves and a most stunning backdrop of fall colors. Located just outside of Morrison, Colorado, this park proved both beautiful and peacefully quiet. We loved getting to know this new location full of aspen trees and cozy trails. As with most photo-shoots in the fall, we recommend wearing autumn-colored outfits with darker, moodier tones. Check out our post here about how to plan your family picture outfits! But, as these pictures will show you, any outfit will work with cheek-wide smiles and a few hugs and kisses! It's All Fun and Games! The Grimes’ baby boy really
If there’s anything cuter than a baby with perfectly pinchable cheeks, it’s one with a fedora and a matching t-shirt with dad! We spent the day with Emily and Nick at their Lookout Mountain family photo session, and boy was this day something we won’t forget! Dad’s fun-loving attitude and Mom’s sweet nose-boops and tummy tickles made this family so enjoyable to work with, and we couldn’t be happier with how these photos turned out! Fedora-ble! This kid is ready to strut down any runway with his dapper hat and a button-down shirt. Not to mention this guy has bright blue eyes and such pinchable cheeks! He is undeniably the most adorable member of the family, and Mom and Dad proudly hugged their little man. While Emily and Nick’s kisses kept this little guy happy, we couldn’t get over dad and son’s t-shirts that referenced the 1993 movie, The Sandlot. With nonchalant pride, the little man’s shirt said “Smalls” while Dad’s read “You’re killing me, Smalls.” Talk about applicable and hilarious! A Location for All Occasions! While this sweet family made our jobs easy with their fun-loving disposition, their soft color scheme and Mom’s springy shirt looked stunning against the Lookout Mountain backdrops
No photographer wants his or her subjects to look too staged, so casual and natural is always the goal for portraits. Members of the Stalling family were more than casual and natural – they were one of the most entertaining and lovable bunches we’ve ever had! On a glorious day, we captured their family photos at Wash Park, and we had so much fun! Family Fun! Siblings and cousins, parents and grandparents all huddled closely and giggled with every hug and nudge. While we of course captured some traditional photos of each family with poised smiles, we are never ones to pass up a “silly picture” – or multiple! The sisters nudged and embraced each other playfully, and their cousin even joined the goofiness! Mom and Dad were not afraid to join the fun either, and sweet smiles quickly evolved into outright laughter. Even Grandma and Grandpa proudly cuddled their family. Based on Grandma and Grandpa's genuine smiles, it is clear where the Stalling family got its zest for life! A Picnic in the Park Washington Park, as it turned out, was the perfect November spot for this photoshoot! Not only does this park offer everything from playgrounds to
“Nothing can dim the light that comes from within,” Maya Angelo once said. Wow was she right—especially when it comes to Katy and Dan’s exciting news! Their party of two is becoming a party of three! We went back to Lost Gulch Overlook for this couple's maternity session, and it was something extraordinary. Majestic Magic What's the big deal about Lost Gulch Overlook anyway? For one thing, this setting is a familiar one for our From the Hip Photo fam (see our sunrise shoot at this location here)! Moreover, it never fails to take our breath away thanks to stunning views (and maybe a little altitude)? Located on Flagstaff Mountain near Boulder, Colorado, this location is accessible, popular and provides unbeatable landscapes and vistas. While the essence of this session was to capture Katy and Dan as happy, budding parents, this shoot was like something out of a movie or a music video. I mean seriously — Katy looked freaking majestic in her floor-length dress and tastefully braided hair. Dan’s tall build and wide smile made him the gentle giant who clearly loves and adores his wife and his upcoming little one! As photographers, we are so lucky to help couples
You may know Chautauqua Park as a popular outdoor park in the stunning Boulder, Colorado. You may also be familiar with our previous engagement photos at Chautauqua. We love this versatile area because, as we’ve learned, it’s not only one of the best outdoor exploring spots, but it’s perfect for engagement and family photo sessions! A Fabulous Four On their daughter’s birthday, this family asked us to shoot their family photos at — you guessed it — Chautauqua Park! We were thrilled to be back in Boulder to snap this sweet family of four among the stunning Colorado outdoors. Their various print tops and comfortable jeans were perfect for the start of the spring season! The family's lovey-dovey vibes were totally adorable, so our job was more than easy. With two lovable little girls and two sweet parents, we laughed and joked right along with them. The Perfect Park As you can tell from our previous sessions at Chautauqua Park, to say this place is stunning does not do it justice. This place is clearly good for the mind, body and soul. In addition to the flatiron views and rolling hills, this 80-acre park has picnic areas, hiking trails, campgrounds, playgrounds and gardens
Over the river and through the woods, we captured Rachel and Justin's maternity pictures for their itty bitty, oh-so-lovable future family member. Located in the quaint town of Golden, Colorado, Clear Creek Historic Park proved the perfect hideaway setting for this couple and their coming baby. A popular little town of about 19,000 people, Golden is a throbbing attraction for tourists and natives alike. So, you won't be shocked that we were thrilled to go to this breathtaking location to capture their maternity pictures (see our recent engagement post at Clear Creek!). From vintage porch steps to lush to green trails, the secret corners of this park helped Rachel and Justin contemplate what's to come! Guess How Much I Love You It is undeniable from these heartwarming photos that these two are more than ready to make this duo a trio. The couple looked like they could be in a fairytale with their suave outfits and awe - worthy accessories. Rachel and Justin had us dreaming a dream we never wanted to wake up from! The creams, browns, and soft blues of their clothes mingled well with the backdrops of water and weathered wood. Justin's joyful personality and intentionality was clearly
There's nothing we love more than a fun family photo session! We had a blast spending the day at the park with this fun and stylish family!
Good lighting can go a long way toward capturing an amazing photo, and there's no better time for great natural light than golden hour!
There's absolutely no better place for family photos than in your own home! The Beresford family's amazing in home photo session is proof that you don't need to go anywhere special as long as you get to be with the ones you love most.
We spent a day in the RiNo Arts District of Denver with a fun family, which we've been fortunate enough to watch grow the past few years. They're stylish, fun, and we're totally in love with their photos!
