Located just a handful of miles outside of Denver (and near Aurora!), Foxfield is a small town that offers an escape from the big city while still being near the heart of Colorado. This unique location makes Foxfield a great wedding destination. We were excited to join Kiki and Justin at their traditional Catholic wedding earlier this fall! Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church Our Lady of Loreto was founded in 1998 in Foxfield, CO. Today, it is home to around 2,500 families. The church describes its mission as, "Guided by the Holy Spirit, Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Parish is a Eucharistic community that seeks to live the Word of God, instill the legacy of faith, and proclaim the love of Christ through service to all." The church offers a variety of services for its community beyond traditional Catholic weddings, such as funerals, men's and women's study groups, and confirmations. A Traditional Catholic Wedding The church was the perfect venue for Kiki and Justin's wedding. The elegant decor complimented the bride and groom's classy attire. But although the service was reverent, the wedding wasn't totally solemn! After some gorgeous outdoor photos, Kiki, Justin, and their loved ones cut loose
Jack Rabbit Hill Farm Jack Rabbit Hill Farm is a diversified farm and producer of local Colorado wine. The farm sits near Hotchkiss in western Colorado's North Fork Valley. The farm grows 18 acres of grapes, and is also home to sheep and cattle. In 2006, Jack Rabbit Hill Farm began practicing biodynamic farming. This farming method entails "fermenting/composting different plant and animal materials together." This helps the farm avoid using inorganic pesticides and fertilizer. The owner of Jack Rabbit Hill Farm, Lance Hanson, claims the practice has increased the quality of his products. Judging by the fact that the farm's local Colorado wine is starring in its own episode of tasteMAKERS next, we're inclined to believe him! Lance's episode will focus on a program he calls WineTapistry. The program offers Jack Rabbit Hill Farm wines at lower prices to "Colorado restaurants, caterers, and events." It also includes a few non-Coloradan wines selected by Lance. You can find WineTapistry at venues such as Denver's own Yeah Baby and Bar Dough. But the program goes beyond offering delightful local Colorado wine. All the WineTapistry wines can be blended together to create new, custom wines for any ocassion. The Maker Movement tasteMAKERS is
Ever feel like you're being watched? Maybe a bit of déjà vu? There certainly was no shortage of spooks and scares at ILEA's '6th Sense' event earlier this month! Hosted at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, ILEA threw a Halloween party featuring creepy cocktails, snacks, and even a corn-maze! Check out some our photos from ILEA at Chatfield Farms below! What is ILEA? ILEA, or the 'International Live Events Association', is a "global community of thousands of creative event professionals whose skills, expertise and experience power some of the most recognized and respected live events around the world". They specialize heavily in educational and collaborative networking events across the globe, which can help bolster local communities and connections. Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms Chatfield Farms is a 700-acre native plant refuge and working farm that's located in southern Jefferson County. The area is a beautiful spot for birdwatching, scenic walks, and for picking up the perfect pumpkin! Chatfield also has a couple of historical buildings; a restored dairy farm and silo from 1918, the 1874 Deer Creek Schoolhouse, and the historical Hildebrand Ranch. Hildebrand Ranch was the location early German pioneers settled at back in the 1860s. We'll leave you with spooky
We might be a little biased, but we believe it's hard to beat Colorado in the summertime. We get low humidity, clear skies, and some of the most incredible views around. These qualities all make Colorado a dream wedding destination. And if you're going to get married in Colorado, why not go all out? That's exactly what Mikal and Andrew did in this mountaintop wedding shoot in Keystone! An Uplifting Experience Most people associate chairlifts with ski trips, not weddings. But Mikal and Andrew aren't like most people, and this isn't like most weddings! Besides, hiking in heels on your special day can be a real drag. The fun-loving couple decided to reach their mountaintop wedding shoot in style. If you ask us, it was worth it. Look at that view! Ages of Affection Having loved ones around is always nice, particularly on a day as important as your wedding. Mikal and Andrew were lucky enough to have generations of family both young and old in attendance to celebrate their devotion to each other. Of course, they also had plenty of friends by their sides as well! We doubt this young flower girl will forget this one-of-a-kind experience anytime soon! An
The end of high school can be a stressful time. Besides their normal schoolwork, students are applying to colleges and preparing to say goodbye to old friends. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the sudden onset of adult responsibilities. But Felicia's outdoor senior photos showed us that senior year can be a time of celebration (and style!) Outdoors in Overalls Felicia came to her photo shoot with a variety of outfits that were both classy and comfortable. In a sturdy pair of light-wash overalls, Felicia ventured out into a creek. The results prove that gorgeous natural photos are what Colorado does best. She later switched into a pair of black jeans and a red shirt. This combination contrasted the shoot's background while showing off Felicia's sense of style. A cute, versatile olive green hat enhanced with both of these outfits. Summer Fashion and Sunflowers Felicia looked at home surrounded by nature. Colorado's beautiful mountains served as the perfect backdrop. She demonstrated that outdoor senior photos can still be elegant with her final outfit. In an ornate black romper, she basked in the perfect summer weather and lighting. Are Outdoor Senior Photos Right For You? Senior year is a momentous
With summer behind us, there is a lot to look forward to with the changing of the seasons. The color of the leaves will turn and we'll begin pulling out our sweaters as the temperature cools. It's a time to relax more and sweat less. While we're excited about Fall, there's much we'll miss about the summer. Today we're remembering one of our favorite summer memories. Back in June, we did a scenic Granby Ranch wedding shoot with Desirae and Nico. A Granby Ranch Wedding Shoot Granby Ranch, CO is a "four-season mountain community where families connect and play." You can hit the slopes for an exhilarating day of skiing or play a laid-back game of golf. The ranch has a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. The best part? It offers all the amenities and freedom of a remote resort while only being 90 minutes outside of Denver. Over 500 families live on the ranch, which means you'll experience a real sense of community. Marise Cipriani, founder of Granby Ranch, writes that the ranch is "where families and friends connect, live, play, and enjoy nature in the Colorado Rockies." Interested in an outdoor wedding? Summers in Colorado can get balmy at times... But other times, the weather can be perfect for outdoor excursions with family and friends! We headed up to Boulder to capture this beautiful South Mesa Trail family photoshoot. These guys could not have been more joyous! South Mesa Trail The South Mesa Trailhead can be found south of downtown Boulder, off of Highway 170. The trail is well-known for being a great place to see wildlife while not being too difficult to traverse. Much of the trail is out in the open, leading to some fantastic views of the nearby mountains. Plus it's not too far at all from downtown Boulder. Pearl Street for those who aren't familiar, is another great location to shoot or just hang out around! Check out some other photoshoots that we've done in Boulder here! Best Friends Fur-ever There's more than just three to this family! A couple of their canine pals joined us for this session. Pets make great additions to photo sessions because of their easy going vibes, pets make for great smiles all around! This clear and sunny July day proved to be an excellent source of natural light, which always provides a
A few turntables, some dusted off classic records, a bit of booze, and you have yourself a good old-fashioned party! This past May, we went to the Vauxhall Ballroom at Denver's Ramble Hotel for a night of music, film, and luminous fun. Record club Vinyl Me, Please paired with the hotel for a musically inspired event called “The Spins: Classics at Vauxhall,” and we could not have been more thrilled to partake in an event of such class and tastefully artistic drive! A Musical Membership Vinyl Me, Please is, indeed, a vinyl record club with a member, magazine, and Record of the Month tradition! While the modern day person might be letting the thought of spinning records and gritty tunes drift far from their memory, these people at Vinyl Me, Please are keeping the life of records alive! Their mission is to remind the public of the power of vinyl records and its influence on cinema, art, and life in popular culture. They even are traveling the U.S. to “find the best record store in every state”! A Night of Classical Culture The record club brought the equipment while the Ramble Hotel provided a perfect space for this classically-themed event. Twisted
Do you love the fall, and want to photograph your family or loved ones during the peak of autumn color? Are you hoping to make the most of your fall season by capturing some unbeatable photos? If you answered “yes” to either of these questions, you are in luck! We have written a blog post on fall photography tips for you! Read this “how-to” guide to make your autumn photos turn out the best they can be! Lighting is Key One of photography’s most important considerations is lighting. While paying attention to lighting is crucial in every photo shoot, it is especially so during fall sessions. Autumn’s natural colors are reds, golds, and yellows which have the potential to either overpower or enhance natural lighting. While outdoors trying to capture that stunning gold light, make sure you either use the sun as an illuminant for the colors or a tool for silhouettes. You can get some great pictures with a bright orange backdrop if you angle the lighting just right. You can also capture some stunning silhouette pictures with a halo glow depending on your angle. Whatever you do: chase fall light with caution! Utilize Leaves! Everyone knows that the
Our #womancrushwednesday goes out to Simona and Steph from PopFitGo! Earlier this year we had the privilege of photographing these women’s editorial, styled shoot. With the goal of showcasing their fitness brand, these two barre instructors looked fierce and fire in both rolling hills and studio! On the Move! You can get a good workout just about anywhere if you look for it. We traveled around various Colorado locations with these women to show just how versatile your workout routine (and clothing) can be! First, we got some majestic shots on Caribou City, Colorado. This abandoned ghost town is just 20 miles west of Boulder, so of course, we had to take advantage of it! Old brick buildings and expansive Colorado landscapes made these fit and fabulous ladies stand out! Next, we took our photo session to Moss Denver, a chic Denver venue in the Santa Fe Arts District. The place is used for both real and style shoots all the time! This place has giant brick walls and wooden furniture that look so natural with greenery and – yep, moss – all around. Simona and Steph got right into the barre groove in this studio space. Their breathable workout
