We had the distinct pleasure of photographing this insanely colorful party at the Gaylord. A disco party at that! Time to get some inspiration going here for your next party, wedding or big event.
Mortified, a nationwide phenomenon devoted to chronicling teen angst by having adults share their most embarrassing childhood artifacts (journals, letters, poems, lyrics, plays, home movies, art) with others. To help the less romantically inclined crowd enjoy Valentine's Day, Get Mortified puts together Mortified: Doomed Valentines edition each year. The event hosts love stories happy, sad, and all hilariously embarrassing. The event we covered at Oriental Theater on Feb 13th, featured a story by former FTH photographer Josie and her (spoilers) fiancé Jackie. Mortified provides all kinds of services. They produce podcasts, host storytelling workshops and publish books. But the comedy and atmosphere of events like this one make them incredible to attend. This event was a great way to celebrate Valentine's Day. It is always exciting to cover a live event. This one in particular wasn't just hilarious, but therapeutic. Teenage angst is something we can all relate to. So are misadventures in affection. Mortified: Doomed Valentines Edition gives us all a chance to celebrate failure. And it helps us reckon with our own regrets and embarrassment in a fun way! The whole event was a blast! Our team at From the Hip Photo had a blast capturing the joy

As Denver event photographers, our team at From the Hip Photo has had the pleasure of documenting some of the most exciting and unique events in the city. Recently, we were hired to photograph the Dry Dock Brewing Banned Booze Ball in Aurora, Colorado.
Here at From the Hip Photo, we are firm believers in the photo booth! While some people might assume that photo booths are only for informal events, we think they can bring entertainment to any celebration. In fact, we think couples should consider a wedding photo booth when planning their big day. In the age of the selfie, we are always taking amusing photos of ourselves and loved ones almost every day. Weddings are no exception! Photo booths help make capturing those special moments even more fun! Even celebrities like Kim and Kanye are on the wedding photo booth train. So Much Time For Activities! There's a lot that happens at a wedding. Your guests are going to be busy participating in dances, meals, and toasts. Why not ensure that one of these wedding activities gives them something to take home at the end of the night? Even the most enthusiastic wedding guest needs a break from dancing the “Cha Cha Slide” at some point. Memories Galore! Wedding photo booths are enjoyable for all ages. They allow everyone, from an adorable 3-year-old child to your grandma (we're amazed she's awake after 9 p.m.), to get together and join the fun. A wedding photo booth
Ever feel like you're being watched? Maybe a bit of déjà vu? There certainly was no shortage of spooks and scares at ILEA's '6th Sense' event earlier this month! Hosted at the Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, ILEA threw a Halloween party featuring creepy cocktails, snacks, and even a corn-maze! Check out some our photos from ILEA at Chatfield Farms below! What is ILEA? ILEA, or the 'International Live Events Association', is a "global community of thousands of creative event professionals whose skills, expertise and experience power some of the most recognized and respected live events around the world". They specialize heavily in educational and collaborative networking events across the globe, which can help bolster local communities and connections. Botanic Gardens at Chatfield Farms Chatfield Farms is a 700-acre native plant refuge and working farm that's located in southern Jefferson County. The area is a beautiful spot for birdwatching, scenic walks, and for picking up the perfect pumpkin! Chatfield also has a couple of historical buildings; a restored dairy farm and silo from 1918, the 1874 Deer Creek Schoolhouse, and the historical Hildebrand Ranch. Hildebrand Ranch was the location early German pioneers settled at back in the 1860s. We'll leave you with spooky
With summer behind us, there is a lot to look forward to with the changing of the seasons. The color of the leaves will turn and we'll begin pulling out our sweaters as the temperature cools. It's a time to relax more and sweat less. While we're excited about Fall, there's much we'll miss about the summer. Today we're remembering one of our favorite summer memories. Back in June, we did a scenic Granby Ranch wedding shoot with Desirae and Nico. A Granby Ranch Wedding Shoot Granby Ranch, CO is a "four-season mountain community where families connect and play." You can hit the slopes for an exhilarating day of skiing or play a laid-back game of golf. The ranch has a variety of activities for visitors of all ages. The best part? It offers all the amenities and freedom of a remote resort while only being 90 minutes outside of Denver. Over 500 families live on the ranch, which means you'll experience a real sense of community. Marise Cipriani, founder of Granby Ranch, writes that the ranch is "where families and friends connect, live, play, and enjoy nature in the Colorado Rockies." Interested in an outdoor wedding? Back in February, we had the pleasure of visiting The Regional. The Regional is a LoHi restaurant that is famous for serving fantastic food sourced from local farms and ranches in Colorado. They also serve seafood sourced from various places in Massachusetts. This past spring they hosted a culinary event dedicated to the No Kid Hungry charity. Come check it out! The Regional Chef and owner Kevin Grossi opened The Regional back in the summer of 2016. He sought to recreate many classic American dishes from all over the country using locally sourced food. He focuses particularly on comfort food. As he describes in an article with Eater Denver, "We're not doing crazy things to our products," Grossi said, "we're bringing the down-home feeling down to Denver." However, after spending two years at their LoHi location in the Avanti F&B, The Regional will be moving to Fort Collins in the early fall. Grossi plans on deepening his regional dishes in the new location: “The Regional has always been about adding a local element to whatever food you consider ‘hometown’ cooking. That will never change. If anything, we’re just moving closer to where so much of it is already growing in our state.” Check out
A few turntables, some dusted off classic records, a bit of booze, and you have yourself a good old-fashioned party! This past May, we went to the Vauxhall Ballroom at Denver's Ramble Hotel for a night of music, film, and luminous fun. Record club Vinyl Me, Please paired with the hotel for a musically inspired event called “The Spins: Classics at Vauxhall,” and we could not have been more thrilled to partake in an event of such class and tastefully artistic drive! A Musical Membership Vinyl Me, Please is, indeed, a vinyl record club with a member, magazine, and Record of the Month tradition! While the modern day person might be letting the thought of spinning records and gritty tunes drift far from their memory, these people at Vinyl Me, Please are keeping the life of records alive! Their mission is to remind the public of the power of vinyl records and its influence on cinema, art, and life in popular culture. They even are traveling the U.S. to “find the best record store in every state”! A Night of Classical Culture The record club brought the equipment while the Ramble Hotel provided a perfect space for this classically-themed event. Twisted
