Photographing a surprise proposal is always a treat. It gets our adrenaline going almost as much as it does the proposer and the proposee! For this specific session, we were in Boulder for surprise proposal photography in a Christmas tree nursery. Our photographer pretended that she was taking photos on behalf of Creekside Tree Nursery and captured the pair cutting down their own Christmas tree, which is something Dana has always wanted to do. We caught the moment Michelle proposed to Dana, which happens to be the exact moment our hearts melted!
The lovebirds’ British bulldog, Finley, was all about her parent’s getting married. She waged her nubby little tail faster than Dana could say yes! Se was also a great stand to display the gorgeous ring Michelle picked out for her bride-to-be. The couple’s outfits worked so well together using the same color palette but with different patterns (nicely done!)! Finley’s checkered collar also matched the duo’s clothes perfectly (bonus points!). Though her brindle and white spotted head making a great engagement ring stand, her collar made an even better wedding ring holster.
Creekside Tree Nursery abuts the Boulder Creek on the western edge of the property, so we were not short on beautiful scenery to use as a backdrop! The brides-to-be glowed in the tall wild grass surrounding the tree nursery. We hit that hour of long sunlight that we love so much, but it failed to outshine this newly engaged couple.
During the holiday season, there’s already so much love and magic in the air, and a Boulder surprise proposal photography session only intensifies that magic by a factor of about a billion! We love shooting with giggly couples like Michelle and Dana who have sunshine radiating from their souls, which makes their smiles that much deeper! We really can’t decide who is more thrilled with this engagement, us or Finley! Thank you, thank you, thank you for letting us play a part in this special chapter in your life, Michelle & Dana!
