The Surrounding Area
Brainard Lake is not actually a lake. In fact, it is technically a reservoir but that is not what we’re referring to. Instead, we are referring to the surrounding area itself that is named after the large Brainard Lake. There are actually are several other small lakes situated around the location. These have been carved out within the glacier-swept valley with surrounding Talus fields at the upper lakes testifying to ongoing erosion. The Apache and Shoshoni Peaks are visible in the distance, along with other 13,000 foot high peaks!
